Watches for men Diver watch
DOXA was founded in 1889 in the heart of one of Switzerland's major and most inventive watch making areas, the canton (district) of Neuchatel's Jura Mountains.
Today DOXA brings to the industry a perspective forged over a century of often pioneering watch design.
Georges Ducommun (1868-1936), the founder of DOXA, was born in Le Locle among the Jura hills of canton Neuchatel in Switzerland. He was one of 13 children of a poor family. At the age of 12, he became an apprentice in a manufacture specialised in casing-up watch movements.
He started his own watch repair business when he was 20. He worked hard to set up his business, walking the 10 kilometers to La Chaux-de Fonds to deliver his products personally, even in the depth of winter.

The success of his watches enabled him to live in Chateau des Monts, today home of the world-renowned Le Locle horological museum. From there he made the daily journey to his factory by carriage.

DOXA, Sportscars & Rallye Timers
The tight and emotional relationship between the automobile and watch-making industry has a long tradition and dates back to the beginning of the 20th century.
It was in the year of 1911, when the first board watch decorated early automobile dashboards.
Watch manufacturers put all their effort in the production of precise high-quality time-pieces for automobile dashboards in order to play a part in the evolving car racing industry.
diver watch
It all began in 1967 when DOXA decided to add a diver watch to its wristwatch collection. The idea of manufacturing a sports diver watch was unusual and challenging for a traditional and almost conservative Swiss watch manufacturer, founded in 1889, well known for elegant dress watches made of white or yellow gold utilizing very reliable high grade movements.

In 1967 DOXA teamed up with the US divers co. to benefit from professional diving expertise and combined it with one century of Swiss watch making craftsmanship to develop a true state of the art diver watch.

It was the Grandmaster of the American adventure novel, Dr. Clive Cussler who finally popularized the venerable orange face DOXA SUB by equipping his heroic deep-sea diver Dirk Pitt® with the legendary orange face diver watch in the late 1960's.

US Navy Air
Dive Watches - The DOXA SUB 300T was born introducing two revolutionary innovations. The first feature was the unidirectional rotating bezel which integrated a no-decompression limit table to the watch. The official US Navy Air dive table for no-decompression dives was engraved on the bezel to assist divers in taking care of time and water depth during underwater excursions. Years later, other brands were inspired by this feature and decided to print extracts of the no-decompression limit table on the strap of their diver watches.

Doxa's dive watches adhere to the following naming conventions.
* Professional refers to an orange faced dive watch
* Sharkhunter refers to a black faced dive watch
* Searambler refers to a silver (metallic) faced dive watch
* Caribbean refers to a blue faced dive watch
* Divingstar refers to a yellow faced dive watch
* Conquistador refers to a watch with a helium release valve
